Welcome to my Chrono Trigger doujinshi section, where I'll provide complete scans and translations of any authentic Japanese CT doujinshi I come across.  This'll be a pretty huge undertaking, so updates will be sparse.

Clicking on the cover image of a translated doujin below will bring you to a new page, where 10 or so pages of the doujin will be shown alongside their translations;  at the bottom of that page, you'll find a link to the next few in sequence.  Though each page might take a bit to load, it'll save you the annoyance of hitting a 'next page' button every few seconds.  Untranslated books link only to their covers, with the exception of Zone 8-- if I took that down, there'd be a riot on my hands.  Remember--the Japanese read right to left.

A collection of snippets and reimaginings of sequences in the original Chrono Trigger game.  Some genuinely funny humor, with excellent, professional quality art and layout.  Lots of direct quotes from the game, instantly recognizeable to anyone who loves CT.  Magus and Crono are the main players.  This doujin is the gem of my collection so far.

Plus!  Naked Magus on page 25.  Rowr.

Double-sided format--one side has a 16 page series of CT gags, the other side has a 16-page Final Fantasy 6 (American FF3) story.  Art on the CT half is juvenile but suits the gag format, and the FF6 art is considerably more developed, though the artist needs to work on profiles.

Humor in the CT side is kind of weak, with the author rehashing "Frog is ugly, Lucca hates Frog" about six times.  On the FF6 side, we get to enjoy some blatant but kinda cute author insertion, and the short gag on the first page (with Terra and Shadow) is a riot.

Because of the double-sided format, the page numbering will appear all wonky (i.e. backwards.)

Humor / Drama (mild yaoi)

An intriguing art style I like quite a lot.  While pretty typical manga, it's also impeccably clean, with measured proportions and sparse use of tone.  Almost looks computer designed -- check it out and see what you think.  It's just a shame it's so short.

For the uninitiated, yaoi is the Japanese term for guy-on-guy romantic relationships, penned for the delight of female fans.  The first half of this doujin is sexual humor, the second half is an interesting Cyrus / Glenn story.

52 pages, 5.75 x 8.25" 1995

The artists of this series very obviously have borrowed the style of famous manga artists--one draws like Akira Toriyama (Original character designer for Chrono Trigger, most famous for Dragon Ball Z) and the other like Rui Araizumi (Slayers).  Fortunately, they're both quite good.  Some awkward layout, but otherwise, well done.

The humor, meanwhile, is also excellent, with several laugh-out-loud jokes.  Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

HENTAI = PORNOGRAPHY.  18+ VIEWERS ONLY.

Amazingly good art, especially in the faces, although there are some size and proportion relation issues between certain characters, but nothing that detracts too badly.
Pairings include:
Crono x Ayla, Crono x Marle, Lucca x Ayla, Lucca x Flea, Magus x Frog (implied).

10 pages out of a 152 page player's guide,
5.75 x 8.25" 1995

Though not a doujinshi (being an officially licensed manga) this short is the only (to my knowledge) offical CT manga around.  So I decided to stick it in this section so nobody will miss out on it.
Well, I retract that this manga was done by Akira Toriyama-- rather, it's made in a faximile of his style so perfect that it fooled everyone who saw it, until we got the author's real name...  Kaneko Osamu.  Though not by Toriyama, it's still an adorable story with excellent art and characterization.  The story covers the opening events during the Millenial Fair.

Drama / Yaoi?
26 pages, 5.75 x 8.25" 1995

In the interests of space conservation, I'll only be presenting the Chrono Trigger half here since the DQ series doesn't have a large enough fanbase in the US to make it worth the bandwidth.  (I love it, but hey...) If I get requests, I'll put it up.

The art is pretty darn good, and lifted directly from Toriyama's style.

Super cute humor
38 pages, 7 x 10" 1995

Why is it called Blue, you ask?  Because of the gimmick-- it's printed entirely in dark blue ink on cream-colored paper.  The effect is quite snazzy.  But look beyond the pretty colors for a moment to appreciate the horribly adorable and excellently developed art.  This doujin features two separate artists who work in somewhat similar styles and who compliment each other nicely; the use of screentones and black and white (blue and white, rather) is among the best in my collection.  A personal favorite.

Yet another doujin with excellent art in the Toriyama style.  The quality of this book is very high -- sturdy pages, colorful glossy cover.  Characterization is excellent, especially of Crono.  And check out the back cover for a really nifty color illustration of the battle against Masa and Mune.

A Chrono Cross / Chrono Trigger crossover doujin.  Beacuse I don't have it translated, I have no idea what the story is, but it looks pretty interesting, I must say.

Art is quite good, in a unique style.  And I have a whole new appreciation for commander Norris.  Rowr.

The sequel to Chrono Trigger World, this story is mainly centered around Crono, Marle and Lucca's first encounter with Ayla, making this the first Ayla-centric doujin in my collection (not counting Zone 8, of course.)  It also features a short story about Magus remeniscing about Schala, and another short about how hot Frog was as a human.  I prefer this one over Chrono Trigger World 1.

This is what I am affectionately dubbing "The Worst Chrono Trigger Doujin Ever."

The art is pretty bad.  Yeah.

But it's a CT doujin, and was made with love, so I'm not gonna slam it too hard.

Romance (Lucca x Glenn) / Drama
18 pages, 7 x 10" 2002

The most obviously homemade doujin I have.  The pages are hand-folded, sometimes crookedly, the cover is simply printed out on thin computer paper with bad pixelization in the graphics.  The art inside is charmingly shoujo (girls-style), though, and this is one of my favorite depictions of Lucca.

Alright, bring in the funny.  Another really good faximile of the original Toriyama art,  filled with what are obviously some pretty funny jokes (laments for her complete lack of Japanese language skills)

Highlight: Lucca yelling
"OH!! JESUS" on page 38.

Akira Mitsuhara is a n artist who CURRENTLY produces Chrono Trigger doujinshi in Japan, and I'm sure glad she does.

Her art is absolutely superb.

Her favorite character is Lucca, too.  Woohoo!
